Position Summary 

The People & Culture Business Partner (PCBP) will serve as a key point of contact for our team members and managers based outside of the United States, providing professional, responsive, and values-aligned human resources support. Based in the UK (GMT time zone), the PCBP will support the full employee lifecycle across multiple regions, ensuring local relevance and global consistency in people practices and in partnership with our Employer-of-Record (EOR). This role will be instrumental in reinforcing a positive employee experience and fostering a people-centric culture at Textile Exchange.

The ideal candidate will bring practical knowledge of employment regulations in the UK with familiarity across various countries, a strong customer service orientation, a collaborative mindset, and a demonstrated ability to coach both employees and managers through complex employee relations issues, performance management, and development conversations.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, 100% remote, mission-driven, and global work environment. 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities 

Staff Relations & Support 

  • Serve as the primary human resources contact for a growing workforce of approximately 100 team members and managers based outside of the US, providing day-to-day guidance on HR policies, employee relations, and performance management. 
  • Coach and support managers in proactively addressing employee relations issues, fostering team engagement, and navigating sensitive workplace concerns in a constructive, legally compliant, and values-aligned manner. 
  • Partner with managers and the US-based Learning & Development Specialist to identify learning needs across regions and support the development and implementation of relevant learning and development opportunities. 
  • Assist with the implementation of new and updated HR policies and initiatives across regions. 
  • Coordinate with EOR’s legal
    and HR advisors on country-specific issues as needed. 
  • Partner with the Senior Director, People & Culture, to ensure practices are legally compliant and culturally appropriate in diverse global contexts. 

Onboarding, Offboarding & Lifecycle Management 

  • Ensure seamless onboarding experiences by coordinating with EOR, People & Culture team members, hiring managers, IT, and other relevant departments. 
  • Support employees and managers during offboarding, including exit interviews, logistics, and compliance with local regulations. 
  • Maintain accurate records and support HR data integrity across platforms and documentation. 

Talent Acquisition Partnership 

  • In partnership with the US-based Recruiter, collaborate closely with hiring managers to understand role requirements, team dynamics, and success profiles, and act as intermediary with the internal Recruiter and external headhunters, if needed. 
  • Provide guidance and training on inclusive and effective interviewing techniques, including structured interviewing and bias reduction. 
  • Support hiring managers in crafting clear, compelling, and equitable job descriptions. 
  • Facilitate interview debrief sessions and help teams make thoughtful, principle-aligned hiring decisions. 
  • Support hiring managers and recruiters to ensure a consistent, compliant, and positive hiring experience for both managers and candidates. 
  • Provide back-up to the internal Recruiter by offering support with job postings, candidate sourcing, screenings, and conducting interviews as needed. 

HR Systems & Processes 

  • Maintain and update employee records in alignment with data protection and privacy standards. 
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of HR processes, tools, and templates. 
  • Generate reports and metrics to support decision-making and track key trends. 

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Additional
    projects and tasks as assigned by the Senior Director, People and Culture. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, behavioral science or relevant field, or education equivalent in work experience.  
  • 3+ years of experience in a generalist or HR business partner role within a global organization. 
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR practices in the UK and familiarity
    across other countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, and
    Canada. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and balance global consistency with local nuance. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. 
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • CIPD, HRCI, and/or SHRM certification or equivalent HR qualification. 
  • Experience working for a large non-profit or NGO.   
  • Experience working remotely and across time zones in a dispersed team. 
  • Experience partnering with an Employer-of-Record administrator (i.e., Remote). 
  • Knowledge of sustainable fashion, environmental, or social impact fields. 
  • Experience with BambooHR HRMS and SharePoint.

Job Summary 

Textile Exchange recognizes the challenges faced by having duplicative standard systems and sustainability initiatives in the marketplace and value chains.
As we move to publish the Materials Matter Standard and implement a new certification system, and in order to reduce cost and complexity for standards users, we wish to incorporate a mechanism to recognize existing standard systems within the MMS (either partially or fully) that align with our principles of preferred production systems (climate, nature, people, animals, and governance/credibility).
In addition to recognition, we also wish to foster partnerships with other standard systems and sustainability initiatives that work towards shared sustainability goals.  

The Recognition Lead will oversee the development and operationalization of the Materials Matter Recognition Framework,
which will establish criteria and implementation guidelines for partnerships with other standards systems and sustainability initiatives covering materials not already part of our system (e.g., manmade cellulosic fibers, biomaterials, and cotton) or specialty scope areas that add value and integrity to certification (e.g., social welfare and environmental practices), while streamlining audit processes, sharing assurance data, and defining allowed claims and labeling. 

The Recognition Lead will be part of the Standards System department, reporting to the Standards Director and working in close collaboration with the 1) Assurance, Traceability, and Supply Chain Data, 2) Claims and Trademark Management, and 3) Impact Tools teams. Their primary role is to build and implement the framework structure, any needed criteria, and operational policies and procedures for the Recognition Framework. They work closely with various Textile Exchange departments and external stakeholder groups to ensure cross-organizational collaboration, clear and consistent messaging, and alignment of the Recognition Framework with other tools and activities that support the Textile Exchange strategy. 

Expectations and Responsibilities 

  • Contribute to the strategic plan for recognition and serve as technical lead in developing and operationalizing the Recognition Framework. This includes: 
  • Development of Recognition Framework structure and additional criteria as needed, in partnership with the Impact Tools team. 
  • Designing and implementing policies, procedures, guidelines, and training content to support the establishment of recognition partnerships and materials in the Materials Matter System in close coordination with the Standard System department teams. 
  • Follow ISEAL’s Good Practice Guide for Benchmarking Voluntary Sustainability Systems and ensure compliance with the ISEAL Code requirements for equivalency. 
  • Liaise across Textile Exchange departments and teams on workstreams that overlap with the concept of recognition
    as follows: 
  • Engagement and Partnerships to help build and maintain relationships with other sustainability system owners to establish recognition of other systems. 
  • EU Legislation and Standards Expert to ensure alignment with public policy requirements & accreditations. 
  • Impact Tools team to refine and evolve the existing Fiber and Materials Matrix tool and criteria for use as the foundation for the recognition mechanism, while retaining scientific rigor and ensuring alignment with voluntary reporting requirements. 
  • Claims and Trademark Management to determine acceptable claims for certified products where the recognition framework is applicable. 
  • Traceability and Supply Chain Data to determine how data is collected from recognized partner programs, integrated into our traceability systems, and reported back to them. 
  • Operational Integrity and Governance to ensure the Framework is built in alignment with ISEAL, organizational best practices, and legal requirements. 
  • Assess and manage risks associated with a recognition model and incorporate risk mitigation strategies into the system design and implementation. 

Experience 

  • Proven leader with the ability to identify needs and create and direct solutions into existence.  
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with the Textile Exchange team and key external stakeholders
  • Strong management abilities, including project planning and oversight, problem solving, and ability to play a leadership role in a highly team-oriented environment.

Qualifications

    ISEAL-compliant members.  
  • At least 7 combined years of experience working in sustainability. 
  • Experience managing complex stakeholder engagement processes.  
  • Experience in conducting benchmark assessments. 
  • Experience working in a rapidly changing environment.

Job Summary 

The Supply Chain Expert is part of the Textile Exchange Standards System department, responsible for the development and maintenance of various textile industry supply chain standards used for independent auditing and certification. This position will lead the technical development of Textile Exchange’s chain of custody standards1 and related policies and procedures, and their connectivity to the broader chain of custody framework, which includes our traceability platform (Trackit), the Recognition Framework, claims, and labelling.  The Supply Chain Expert will also play a key role in providing technical oversight and guidance of due diligence systems as they relate to the Standards System. The Supply Chain Expert will support Textile Exchange’s transition to the Materials Matter System, providing the required expertise to update the relevant standards, policies, and procedures. As a member of the Standards System department, they will collaborate closely with various internal teams and stakeholders to gather and analyze feedback throughout the standard development and consultation processes. Their role will help maintain our organization’s commitment to credible sustainability systems as outlined by the ISEAL Code of Good Practice for Sustainability Systems

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the technical expert and content lead for chain of custody within Textile Exchange’s standards system, overseeing the development, maintenance, and revision of related standards, policies, procedures, training materials, and resources. Ensure standards, policies and guidance tools are informed by evolving supply chain traceability practices, regulations, and technologies, while aligning with the ISEAL Code of Good Practice and incorporating stakeholder feedback.  
  • Serve as technical expert for due diligence systems as they are related to the Standard System, ensuring alignment with international frameworks such as the OEDC’s Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct
  • Collaborate with the Standards Development, Standards Engagement, Assurance, Traceability, Supply Chain Data, and Claims and Trademark Management teams to inform standard technical development and prepare content for the Textile Exchange decision-making bodies. 
  • Work with relevant team members to ensure that the chain of custody framework is aligned with industry practices as well as government policy and regulations; this includes supporting EU and other policy review workstreams for chain of custody and traceability alignment opportunities. 
  • Support the Traceability and Supply Chain Data teams to operationalize supply chain systems, such as Trackit, the Textile Exchange traceability tool for tracking third-party certified materials across the supply chain, including the use of physical and digital tracers. 
  • Support the development and implementation of the optional environmental and social modules for suppliers in tiers 1-3 to be used in conjunction with the chain of custody standards, including evaluation of other verification systems and identification of data sharing needs to enable consolidated product information in our supply chain system (Trackit). 
  • Provide input to the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) Strategy team to facilitate data collection throughout the supply chain.  
  • Collaborate with the Claims and Trademark Management team on chain of custody-related requirements for product claim eligibility and other interconnected topics. 
  • Plan and coordinate with Assurance teams on training and calibration needs and content development for certification bodies related to the chain of custody standards and related systems. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Experience 

  • Experience working with chain of custody standards or similar supply chain verification/certification schemes, with prior experience in an audit role preferred.  Preference for experience with ISEAL compliant schemes. 
  • Experience working in global textile supply chains, and comprehensive understanding of global supply chains and stakeholders. 
  • Alignment with Textile Exchange’s vision, mission, and objectives.  
  • Proven experience in research, policy development, and implementation of supply chain standards. 
  • Excellent written and grammatical skills in English to draft technical content.  
  • Highly adept in working with Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies and systems.

  • Certificate awarded for course that includes content based on the ISO 19011:2018 guidelines for auditing management systems and experience with third-party auditing for the respective management systems. 
  • Familiarity with business analytics tools such as Power BI and CRM tools such as Salesforce.

Position Summary 

The Payroll and Benefits Specialist is a key member of the People & Culture team. This role is responsible for managing payroll processing, administering employee benefits, and overseeing leave programs for a growing, fully remote, multi-state U.S. workforce. This role ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations. By serving as a trusted resource for related inquiries, this position enhances the employee experience and contributes to a compliant and efficient People and Culture operation.  

 
Primary Duties and Responsibilities  

Payroll Administration: 

  • Process semi-monthly payroll for approximately 55 US-based employees across multiple states, ensuring accurate and timely submission. 
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws. 
  • Manage the process with support from Finance and Legal to add new states and locales to our payroll system. 
  • Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries and discrepancies. 

Benefits and Leave Administration: 

  • Administer US employee benefits suite of programs including health, dental, vision, FSA, retirement plans, and ancillary programs. 
  • Lead the annual open enrollment process and qualifying life event changes. 
  • Coordinate with third-party administrators to process enrollments, terminations, and benefit changes in a timely manner. 
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend to People & Culture leadership new or enhanced benefit offerings to support the evolving needs and well-being of our workforce. 
  • Maintain and distribute the annual Employee Benefits Summary booklet.  
  • Create and distribute annual Total Compensation Statements. 
  • Oversee and administer leave requests, including family and medical leave, sabbaticals, bereavement, disability and accommodations. 
  • Create and maintain a tracking system for global leaves. 

Compliance and Reporting: 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state payroll, benefits, and leave regulations. 
  • Prepare and submit required reports to government agencies. 
  • Stay up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations affecting payroll and benefits. 
  • Lead the annual workers compensation audit.  

Employee Experience and Support: 

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee payroll, benefits, and leave-related questions. 
  • Participate in all new hire onboardings to provide education on payroll and benefits. 

Secondary Responsibilities  


EOR Administrative Support:

  • Provide administrative support to the People & Culture Lead for international HR management through our Employer-of-Record (Remote) platform.   

Minimum Qualifications (education, experience, skills) 

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with U.S. payroll administration. 
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience with benefits and/or total rewards administration. 
  • Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll, benefits, and leave laws and best practices. 
  • Experience partnering with brokers, TPAs, and insurance carriers. 
  • Strong proficiency with payroll software. 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Textile Exchange is seeking a strategic and experienced Chief Standards System Officer (CSSO) to lead the vision, development, and global implementation of our Materials Matter standards system, while also overseeing our existing suite of material-specific standards. This role will guide the evolution and delivery of raw material and supply chain criteria, assurance and certification models, traceability and chain of custody systems, and claims governance. The CSSO will also be responsible for building out internal capacity and co-leading the development of recognition partnerships with the materials engagement team with aligned sustainability standards, ensuring Textile Exchange acts as a platform that brings together aligned standards and stakeholders, supporting coherence and progress without creating unnecessary barriers.

We are looking for someone who is excited to be part of an organization doing standards in an innovative way – unifying systems, embedding outcome-focused criteria, and co-creating change with stakeholders. The CSSO will help lead the strategic transformation of our standards into a globally credible, science-informed, and regionally grounded framework that supports producers, enables brand accountability, prioritizes usability through user-centered systems, and drives measurable progress on climate, nature, and livelihoods.

While leading the Standards department, the CSSO will work in close collaboration with our Executive and Senior Leadership Teams to ensure the standards system is not only technically credible, but also practical, regionally adaptable, and aligned with stakeholder needs. This includes driving regional rollout strategies and managing implementation risk across diverse geographies and production systems.

Textile Exchange is not just a standards body, we also house one of the sector’s leading impact data and thought leadership teams, a dynamic engagement department working with 700+ members, and a growing network of producers, civil society actors, and technical experts. As part of this ecosystem, the CSSO will ensure our standards system serves as a driver of transformation across the full value chain – from Tier 4 producers to global brands.

As a senior leader reporting to the CEO, the CSSO will be responsible for maintaining the credibility, scalability, and global relevance of the standards system, while ensuring strong risk management, outcome alignment, and regional responsiveness in a rapidly evolving global context.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Strengthen the long-term vision and direction for Textile Exchange’s unified, outcome-oriented standards system.
  • Serve as the internal and external champion for standards credibility and integrity, scientific rigor, practical application, and measurable climate and nature outcomes.
  • Ensure alignment with organizational strategy and our initiatives, including impact, policy, and engagement objectives.

Standards System Oversight

  • Oversee the development, maintenance, and refinement of raw material and supply chain criteria, integrating both practice-based and outcome-based approaches.
  • Oversee the assurance and certification system, including protocols, auditor oversight, and grievance mechanisms.
  • Advance traceability and chain of custody systems, with a particular emphasis on digital traceability solutions that enhance transparency while reducing friction and unnecessary barriers to entry for supply chain actors.
  • Oversee the strategic transformation of how chain of custody is designed and implemented to balance system robustness with practical accessibility, especially in complex or resource-constrained settings.
  • Govern a robust and transparent claims system and develop pathways for mutual recognition with aligned standards.
  • Ensure that claims and assurance models are responsive to stakeholder needs and regulatory trends, while reinforcing system integrity and trust.

Regional Rollout & Implementation

  • In partnership with the engagement team, provide strategic leadership and guidance for regional rollout strategies of standards adoption—ensuring contextualized implementation across geographies, while supporting regional teams and partners in building capacity, engaging local stakeholders, and advancing accessible certification models.
  • Integrate learnings from pilots, audits, and producer feedback into continuous system improvement.

Risk & Integrity Management

  • Ensure risk management across all areas of the standards system that aligns with our organization wide risk management strategies.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, reputational, and compliance risks, in alignment with ISEAL best practices.
  • Ensure standards development remains fit-for-purpose through structured review, revision, and governance processes.

Organizational Integration & Collaboration

  • Partner with the Climate & Nature Impact leadership to embed scientific and impact-aligned metrics in the standards system.
  • Collaborate with the Engagement & Partnerships leadership to ensure stakeholder needs, motivations, and barriers are reflected.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, communications, and leadership alignment as a key member of the senior leadership team.

External Leadership & Representation

  • Represent Textile Exchange at events, global coalitions, policy forums, and technical working groups as well as with key stakeholders including standards organizations and assurance providers.
  • Cultivate strategic partnerships that advance harmonization, mutual recognition, and shared impact outcomes.
  • Engage funders, media, and stakeholders to advocate for Textile Exchange’s role in enabling system transformation.

Team and Organizational Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team that reflects the organization’s values and strategic priorities.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture that supports innovation, accountability, and professional growth.
  • Promote alignment and integration with other departments (Climate and Nature, Engagement, Communications, Strategy, and Operations) to deliver results across the organization’s three core functions: Impact, Engagement, and Standards.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of 10+ years of senior leadership in sustainability standards and systems, with a preference for experience in raw materials, agriculture, or land-based sourcing.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or within organizations that operate across complex stakeholder landscapes – including producers, brands, governments, NGOs, and civil society.
  • A strong understanding of ISEAL codes, climate/nature metrics, and multi-stakeholder governance.
  • Experience with regional implementation and risk-based system rollout.
  • Proven experience overseeing digital traceability platforms and the evolution of chain of custody frameworks.
  • Ideally has worked with recognition frameworks and has experience with incentive or premium programs.
  • Strong track record of managing multi-disciplinary, global teams.

Employment Package  

  • Reports to CEO
  • Full Time Position, 40 Hours a Week  
  • Location: Virtual/Remote
  • Annual Salary Range: $190,000 – $240,000 USD
  • To be filled as soon as possible (start date to be agreed between both parties).
  • Our salary structures are location-agnostic, ensuring equal pay for the same role, irrespective of location. Final employment offers are determined based on the role, candidate experience, education, and other relevant factors, but not on location. Offers will be presented in the local currency of the candidate’s permanent residence. Benefits are tailored to the region of the candidate’s permanent residence and align with Textile Exchange’s regional employment packages.
