Transaction certificates and eTransactions are records issued by a certification body that verifies products sold or shipped from one organization to another conform to our standard and may be treated as claimed materials by the receiver. They contain information about the seller, buyer, shipments, products, and certified material volume of the products.

Transaction certificates are generated from a certification body’s platform, reported to dTrackit, and issued as paper-based copies, passed from party to party along the supply chain (see a sample here). A transaction certificate must always be authenticated against the certification body’s platform or dTrackit.

An eTransaction is an online transaction that is generated on an eTrackit technology provider’s platform, verified by a certification body, and shared with the buyer virtually. While an eTransaction receipt may be generated from eTrackit (see sample here), the online eTransaction remains the authenticated source.

As part of its Traceability Roadmap, Textile Exchange is developing a multiparty traceability system—an interoperable framework that connects dTrackit and eTrackit and operates seamlessly across diverse technology platforms. A pilot to build and test this system across multiple technology providers platforms is planned for 2025. Textile Exchange is excited to collaborate with Peterson Technologies, Retraced, TextileGenesis, and TrusTrace on this initiative.

The pricing of certified materials is determined by market dynamics. While the interface and mechanism differ, both dTrackit and eTrackit are grounded on the same requirements from our Content Claim Standard. As such, we are only expecting efficiency gains to arise from the use of either dTrackit or eTrackit.

Certification bodies set and charge their own fees. We have not imposed any additional fees for the use of either dTrackit or eTrackit. As with any new system implementation, transition time is needed for certification bodies. However, efficiency gain is expected over time, particularly for those using eTrackit.

We reserve the right to modify our certification fee structure including on-scope (site) certification, transaction certification, and eTransaction certification.

dTrackit: Certified brands can view the traceability of their transaction certificates in dTrackit. However, for privacy reasons, the identities of indirect suppliers are withheld. A feature to request supplier transparency may be considered in the future.

eTrackit: Certified brands can view the traceability of their products in eTrackit. However, for privacy reasons, the identities of indirect suppliers are withheld by default. Brands can request supplier transparency in eTrackit. Supplier transparency is granted when supplier agreement is attained and applies to forward facing eTransactions across all supply chains and traceability maps in eTrackit. Brands not certified to our standards are not a party to the certified chains and is not privy to information pertaining certification on the eTrackit technology platform.

dTrackit: Yes. three APIs are currently available for use:

Brand Scope Certificate (SC) API – makes available data from your own company’s SC, as well as the SCs of your company’s direct suppliers (the SCs of sellers on TCs where your brand is listed as the buyer)

Brand Transaction Certificate (TC) API – makes available data from TCs where your company is either the buyer or the seller

Public Scope Certificate (SC) API – makes available publicly sharable SC data (i.e. SC data excluding data related to facilities that are subcontractors and farms)

eTrackit: API is being explored for future phases.
